About David

I’m a hobbyist photographer based out of San Jose, California who is interested in Urbex, Travel, and Portrait photography.

I grew up in San Jose, an urban sprawl influenced dramatically by the silicon valley movement where the cultural divide and gentrification can very easily seen just by walking around. Here I was lucky enough to meet amazing people and teachers that shaped the way I view the world and influence my photography. I’m also very fortunate to have been raised by a very creative and artistic family.

I recall a very distinct turning point in how I approach photography, and honestly changed me as a person in general was in 2015 when I was asked the question, “Why not?” I was asked this by my grandfather, who is typically someone who insists I ask the questions. He asked this when I explained I wasn’t interested in a journalism workshop known as “Mosaic.” I didn’t have a good answer, there was absolutely no reason I should have taken the opportunity, so I had this Walter Mitty moment where I just said yes.

This course, this class, this experience changed who I am as a person, ripping me from this shy, conceited shell only for me to be put smack dab in the real world with the guidance of talented and brilliant photo journalists. I learned more about photography than the prior four years up until that point in 10 days of this program. It really was an eye opening experience.

These days I find myself trying to travel as much as I can possibly afford to, visiting cities and states that I had dreamed about traveling to.
